Facilities and Support for Individuals with Special Needs

SMECC2E is committed to inclusion, equal opportunity and non-discrimination. Scholarship holders with disabilities, chronic medical conditions or other special needs are encouraged to inform the project team and host institution—preferably during the application or pre-departure stage—of any reasonable accommodation they may require.

All disclosures will be handled confidentially and used solely for the purpose of arranging appropriate support and ensuring a safe, accessible and inclusive mobility experience.

Available Support & Reasonable Accommodation

Depending on individual needs and the facilities available at the host institution, reasonable support may include:

  • ✓ Accessible accommodation and adapted rooms.
  • ✓ Ramps, lifts and accessible pathways.
  • ✓ Adapted classrooms, laboratories, libraries and workstations.
  • ✓ Assistive technologies and accessible learning materials.
  • ✓ Additional orientation or mobility support.
  • ✓ Reasonable adjustments to teaching, assessment, research or traineeship arrangements.
  • ✓ Assistance in accessing medical, counselling or disability-support services.
  • ✓ Emergency evacuation and personal safety arrangements.

Individual Needs Assessment

Applicants requiring special support should provide sufficient information to enable an individual needs assessment and early planning.

The coordinating and host institutions will make reasonable efforts to provide appropriate accommodations, subject to institutional capacity, applicable regulations and available programme resources.

A request for reasonable accommodation will not, in itself, disadvantage an applicant during the selection process.
