Moi University Kenya (MUK) is a public institution established in 1984 as the second University in Kenya. The University has fifteen (15) Schools, three (3) Institutes and three (3) Centres of Excellence. All academic programmes at Moi University from Bachelor to PhD are accredited by the Commission for University Education in Kenya (CUE). The University has a student and staff population of approximately 25,000 and 3000 respectively. The students comprise both local and international. Moi University has available facilities to support teaching and research. These include equipped laboratories and specialized computer software programs, modern library facilities and e-resources as well as ICT and free internet facilities. In addition, the University has a liaison office that coordinates University partnerships and linkages. The selected academic programmes in the six countries seek to provide solutions to energy challenges and policy implementation strategies of the respective countries. All the programmes are on clean energy, climate, digital technologies and sustainable infrastructure including transport, which align with the gateway investment priorities of the member countries. Moi University has core competencies in electric mobility, infrastructure engineering, geothermal energy research and energy management. Students from the partner universities where these subject areas are not strongly offered will learn them at Moi University during the mobility exchange. Besides, the students will benefit from the expertise of academic staff in the field of energy and climate at Moi University and thereby achieving quality and holistic training. This mobility fits within the African Union vision of developing higher education capacity to generate African solutions to African challenges and to build an African higher education and research space. MUK has some experience with mobility projects such as MIRET (https://miret.mu.ac.ke/), AMAS (https://amasproject.buc.ac.ke/), P4PHTII (https://p4pht.com/), SPREE (https://www.spreeafrica.com/).
